Dear Friends:

            Chamber members, business owners and residents of our area, look to the Chamber's Railroad Car Information site on the corners of Route 347 and Route 112 as the centerpiece of our community.  In addition, to the historical (circa 1910) railroad car, our pride is the 20' x 30' flag and staff, which flies the largest American flag in the area.  Thanks to our Flag Committee, the flag flies 7/24 in all kinds of weather as the patriotic symbol of our community and country.

            The Chamber has, with our Flag Committee, established a "Flag Fund" to repair damaged flags and supplement new flags when the old ones need to be disposed of.

            Rising costs have left us with only two reserve flags in addition to the one presently flying proudly over the site.  The flags need to be replaced, because of damage, every two months.  We presently do not have enough money in the fund to purchase new flags, which cost $850.00 each.  Because of this, we are offering local citizens, elected officials, businesses and organizations the opportunity to fund the purchase of a flag, or flags, to keep "Old Glory" flying.  The sponsoring entity would receive recognition for one month on the glass enclosed glass sign at the site with the message "American Flag", donated by (Name).

            At this time of crisis in our nation, with so many young men and women deployed throughout the world to protect our country, with some giving the ultimate sacrifice; the Chamber feels that the most poignant symbol of our patriotism, flying every day above  two of the most traveled traffic arteries in Suffolk County, serves as a constant reminder of how precious our freedoms are - don't you?
